Amy Remus Scott and Erin McClam first worked together in 2022, when they collaborated with three named authors to produce States United: A Survival Guide for Our Democracy, published by Cornell University Press. They launched Bridgeway Associates in 2025, combining their experience to help clients advance their ideas, tell their stories, and connect with their audiences.

Erin has worked with words for more than 25 years. Most of that time he spent in newsrooms, including at The Associated Press, Bloomberg News, and CNN. His work as a journalist demanded clarity, accuracy, and speed. It also required flexibility: As a reporter, he wrote about blockbuster criminal trials, momentous elections, and ordinary people doing extraordinary things. On the AP’s Top Stories Desk, he edited some of the most widely read news stories in the world, handling a range of subjects. And as a specialist in business and economics for three news outlets, he translated complex financial concepts into accessible prose.
Later, in nonprofit and political communications, Erin wrote and edited reports that demystified voting systems, analyzed state laws, and celebrated the quiet heroism of election workers. He developed persuasive pitches for donors and shaped speeches for state leaders and nonprofit executives. Erin drafted op-eds for major national outlets and prepared nonprofit leaders for press interviews—making sure their most persuasive arguments landed with the most impact.
Erin holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism for the University of Georgia. His work on behalf of clients is guided by the principles he learned throughout his career: Strong writing is clear and accurate. It requires attention to tone, style, and voice. And the reader must come first.
